Empower, Enable, and Encourage Girls to Excel

2017 STEAM for girls

December 9, 2017 - Uncategorized -

Hello! My name is Shruthi Lingam-Nattamai. I’m so happy that I won as a Runner up in the ThinkBIG Challenge 2017.

My Passion in science, technology, engineering, art and math made me participate in this Challenge.

Why are more men in STEAM than women?

Many women get worried about stereotypes thinking that only men are good in these fields.

How can we make this situation better?

We can make this situation better by encouraging girls at a young age as well as finding and creating more places that support women in these fields.

I chose Marie curie, Sister Mary Kenneth Keller, Emily Roebling, Frida Kahlo and Julia Robinson as a role models because other than being great in STEAM fields, they are amazing role models to girls and other women.

I’ve used windows movie maker to make my ThinkBIG Challenge 2017 video. I have learned to post pictures, make and edit videos and write a blog.

I would like to thank Jothi Ramaswamy (Creator of ThinkSTEAM) who showed me the path to get involve in this program.
Last but not least I would like to thank my friend Smriti Somasundaram for mentoring me in this challenge.
